Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, a region of sporting excellence

Fabrice Pannekoucke et Laurent Wauquiez

With over 500 competitions organised each year, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes is a major sporting region. We owe this status to the vitality of our clubs, the dedication of our volunteers, the talent of our athletes, the quality of our facilities and the commitment of local communities that are well-equipped to host major events.

By supporting the Biathlon World Cup in Le Grand-Bornand – at the heart of a venue also committed to hosting the 2030 Olympic and Paralympic Games in the French Alps – the Region is affirming a firm conviction: sport is a driving force for attractiveness, social cohesion and regional influence. It conveys a high standard for our region – one of hard work, perseverance, pushing one’s limits and collective success. Hosting an event of this scale means offering the public a popular and unifying spectacle, but it also demonstrates our region’s ability to rise to the challenge of excellence.

Alongside Renaud Pfeffer, the Region’s Vice-President responsible for sport, local stakeholders, organisers and all those who bring sport to life on a daily basis, we will continue to invest in, support and champion this ambition. In Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, sport is a source of strength, a source of pride and a driving force for the future.

Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc, home to major international events

The year 2026 in Haute-Savoie was marked by a series of international events: the Snowbike World Championships in Châtel, the International Animation Film Festival in Annecy, the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, the ‘Euromontana’ European Mountain Conference in Sallanches, stages of the Critérium Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the Tour de France, the Mountain Bike World Cup in Morillon and Les Gets, the World Rescue and Protection Championships in La Roche-sur-Foron and Annecy, and so on.

This rich and wonderful year of events, which heralds many more to come, will draw to a close with a stage of the Biathlon World Cup in Le Grand-Bornand from 7 to 13 December 2026.

These events put Haute-Savoie on the map. They bring together all its residents through their commitment, the warmth of their welcome and their active participation. The Grand-Bornand leg is no exception: a moment of togetherness centred on the values of sport in general and biathlon in particular; a spirit of camaraderie before, during and after the races; and international exposure thanks to the event’s extensive media coverage.

The Haute-Savoie department and the Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc Departmental Tourism Committee are proud to support the Biathlon World Cup stage at Le Grand-Bornand.

Le Grand-Bornand

The BO!VIVRE village

With sport, nature and culture, this is BO! Life itself!

Skiing into the sunset with the Aravis range as a backdrop, strolling amongst its century-old chalets, meeting its farmers, artists, shopkeepers and craftspeople, and gathering round a famous farm-made Reblochon: it is all these moments that make a winter holiday in Le Grand-Bornand a unique experience… and help to make it a charming place that belongs to us all a little, as we share a truly unique way of life.

Here, the mountains are not just a backdrop; they have something to tell us, they make us better people.

Between village life and caring human values, skiing and sporting activities, cultural and outdoor leisure pursuits, and international events, the ‘Bo!Vivre’ way of life is experienced everywhere, all the time, today and tomorrow, amidst breathtaking, unrivalled landscapes.

Le Grand-Bornand is not just a winter playground: it is a living mountain, an inhabited region, a nurturing haven where young and old alike reconnect and marvel all year round.
Here, wonder takes a thousand forms, from boundless excitement to profound silences. From the ski runs in winter that criss-cross the mountain pastures in summer, to the old-fashioned chalets with their delicate patina, to the rugged, untamed faces of the Aravis range, to cows – real or imagined – and the creative buzz of the Au Bonheur des Mômes festival…

Le Grand-Bornand cultivates its own unique way of enjoying life: sincere, delightfully offbeat and deeply human.

But it is also a place where adults can rediscover a sense of escape, wonder and, at times, even the thrill of pushing their limits. An extraordinary place, where one rises silently, carried by the tranquil natural world, the sheer heights of the mountains and the power of genuine, unforgettable encounters. For here, the mountains do more than just help children grow: they make us better people.

In Le Grand-Bornand, the mountains are not merely a backdrop, however beautiful they may be: they are passed on, shared and nurtured. It is experienced at a child’s eye level, but also at the level of the soul. Here, mountain culture is all about connections: between generations, between seasons, between people and nature, between body and mind. These mountains reveal themselves to those willing to take their time, to those who know how to set aside any sense of urgency.

Above all, they are experienced on a human scale.

Le Bo!Vivre is good for the body and the mind!
